In that it seems that you desire to keep the open sights as a back up for the scope, why worry about QD rings. From what you stated you will not be going back and forth at a moment's notice but only if the the scope fails. If that happens, it comes off and would not be going back on until some point after repair or replacement.

Oct 11, 2014 · I've read that quite a few Rossi's come from the factory shooting high, but I seem to have the opposite problem. My Rossi M92 in 45 Colt (20" barrel) seems to be shooting low. Very Low. 12"-15" low at 50 yards with the rear semi-buckhorn bottomed out. So I'd raise the rear sight up a notch and shoot again. The hit on the target would come up a ... D & T the reciever for a williams peep. Tang rear sight is an option.
